Passions, Quirks and Dreams

Sometimes one has to just jump into the water.

I was not ready to launch Rothacker Reviews. I wanted to plan it better; I wanted to fix the Amazon book links; I wanted to write more carefully; I wanted to build up an inventory of more local stuff to write about; I wanted to dab my toe into the water; I wanted to analyze the air to water to body temperature differential; I wanted to make sure I had thought out all of the reasons to not jump into the water. Last night however, a small force began to materialize and loom in the dark shadows on the dock behind me.

“Have you ever sincerely tried-and still failed?”

Napoleon Hill and W. Clement Stone from their book, Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude, standing halfway in and out of the shadows asked me this question and continued.

“Perhaps you failed because there was something more that was needed to bring you the success you were seeking.”

“I know fellas, and I’m not going to find that something more standing here looking at the water, am I?”

Their whispering became faint, but I could still make out, “use creative thinking.” And then they told how Albert Einstein spoke of developing your mental powers when you learn to ask the right questions, in a much more distinct tone. I went to bed however, without jumping into the water.

I got up this morning, clicked on Rosa Say’s Talking Story  blog and then proceeded to dive head first into the water.

Rosa introduced Tom Ehrenfeld  and his new book, The Startup Garden . I clicked on and read the link to Tom’s book introduction. I’m not sure if Napoleon, W., and Al pushed me or if I ran to the water, but I totally connected with Tom’s words.

Rothacker Reviews float upon the water’s surface. The undercurrent however, is the area to which Tom speaks…and the area in which I seek something more.

Talking Story's August Ho'ohana is Ho'olaule'a; a celebration.  Please stop by and join Tom Ehrenfeld and Rosa as they engage in what promises to be a most stimulating month of discourse.

Hi Dave:

Just discovered your blog via Rosa and her exuberance about your return to the blogosphere on Talking Story.

I can relate to your thoughts in this post...wondering about moving things to the next level but not sure what that looks like...and moving forward anyway. Way to go.

Heard an interesting quote that I've been mulling over along these same lines..."Success isn't found in the harvest that you reap, but in the seeds you sow."

I guess if we continue to sow the right kinds of seeds, we'll eventually see the harvest. Best of luck.

Good writing, Dave. I too found your blog via Rosa today and have been enjoying the reading!
